GIVING

Why give?

IT'S AMAZING WHAT ONE GIFT CAN DO! $80 provides one week of Summer Camp for a child; $48 provides life-saving skills and builds confidence through youth Swim Lessons; $55 broadens the horizons of a 9-year-old learning teamwork, individual responsibility, and respect for others through Progressive Gymnastics; $150 gives a one-year youth membership to a local teen, giving them positive role models to learn from and a place to belong; $372 gives a senior membership, providing opportunities for physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

The Lock Haven YMCA is dedicated to feeding our local childeren through the Backpack Program. For many children, school meals may be the only nutritious meals they eat all week. With your help we can provide child friendly, nutritious, non-perishable, and easy to eat foods for the weekend. Our goal is to help our children stay strong, healthy and mentally ready to return to school on Monday morning.

With your gift, you help people move forward.  The Y provides the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to achieve personal growth in spirit, mind and body.  Join us as we work to remove barriers so that everyone in our community has the opportunity to live, grow and thrive!

Ways to give...

There are a number of ways that the Y will gratefully accept your donation including:    DonateNowButtonforWebsite

Gifts of Cash
A gift of cash is available immediately for the Lock Haven Area YMCA's use and in most cases is 100% deductible for donors who itemize deductions. Your check should be made payable to the Lock Haven Area YMCA.

Pledges
Pledges are accepted with a signed letter of intent and payable over three years.

Gifts of Securities
Increasingly, donors are using appreciated securities – including publicly traded and privately held stock and mutual funds – to make gifts to the Lock Haven Area YMCA.  This method of giving allows the donor to take a charitable deduction for the full current value of appreciated securities held longer than one year and avoid paying the capital gains tax that would be due if the donor sold the securities.

IRA Charitable Rollover
Donors can give up to $100,000 per year, for the current tax year, from their IRAs and exclude the distribution from income. Donor must be at least 70 years of age on the date of the gift to a public charity.

Gifts of Real Estate
Real estate, such as a piece of land, a house or a farm, may be given outright, in which case the Lock Haven Area YMCA will sell the property and use the proceeds for purposes designated by the donor.  Any appreciated value is not usually subject to federal capital gains tax, and a substantial charitable deduction may be claimed.

Y Programs

The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That's because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. The Y is for everyone. Our programs, services and initiatives: enable kids to realize their potential, prepare teens for college, offer ways for families to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, welcome and embrace newcomers, and help foster a nationwide service ethic. And that's just the beginning.
